The short version
Dengelstock collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours that the app talks to. Every blade, peening entry, snath fitting, meadow, mowing session and photo you add is written to storage on your own device and never leaves it, except when you deliberately share or save something yourself.
What Dengelstock stores on your device
The app keeps a single record of your data (your blades, their peening logs, your snath fittings, your meadows and your mowing sessions) in the app's private storage area, plus any photos you attach as ordinary image files alongside it. None of this is transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes it.
A small number of local preferences are stored using Apple's UserDefaults: your honing and peening interval settings, whether haptics are switched on, your reminder preferences, and a flag noting whether you have already been asked to rate the app for the current version. These values never leave your device and contain no personal identifiers.
What Dengelstock does not do
- No account or sign-in of any kind.
- No analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs.
- No tracking of you or your device across apps or websites.
- No location or GPS access.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties, because none is collected.
Camera and photo library
If you choose to, you can attach a photo to a peening entry, a windrow, a snath fitting, or a shareable session card. The app asks for camera access only when you tap to take a new photo, and for photo library access only when you choose to pick or save one — never automatically, and never in the background. Photos you add are stored only in the app's own storage on your device.
Notifications
Dengelstock can remind you when it's time to hone or peen your blade. These are local notifications scheduled entirely on your device; nothing is sent to a server to generate them. Permission is requested the first time you start a mowing session, or when you switch on a reminder in Settings, and you can withdraw it at any time in the Settings app.
The Links screen (in-app browser)
The Links screen offers a short list of outside resources — the Scythe Association of Britain & Ireland, Scythe Supply, and Wikipedia articles about scythes and peening. Opening one of these loads a page from that website inside the app's own browser view, which behaves like a normal web page load and is subject to that website's own privacy practices, not ours. The in-app browser uses a private, temporary browsing session that keeps no cookies once you leave it. No other part of Dengelstock depends on an internet connection.
Children's privacy
Dengelstock is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new "last updated" date below.
